Important head characteristics

Large in comparison to the body. Differentiated from that of other mastiff breeds by more extensive wrinkling and pendulous lips which blend into an ample dewlap. The head of the Neapolitan Mastiff has changed in the past 30 years some suggest due to breed out crossing. The essence of the Neapolitan is his bestial appearance, astounding head. NeapolitanWorld believes country of origin Italy is the gate keeper of the Neapolitan Mastiff standard. Any changes and or modifications is the responsibility of Italians (SAMN and ENCI). The only role of countries whom recognize this Italian breed should be creating the most accurate translation to their native language.
